French Idioms

comme un baiser sans moustache - Like a kiss without the mustache
comme un violon sans cordes - Like a violin without strings
comme une soupe sans sel - Like soup without salt

Now, if I only knew how to pronounce these.. the French versions..

Be Careful of Crawling Babies.....

Okay, probably you don't have to be TOO careful but don't ever leave your glasses lying within toddler reach while you go to potty and brush your teeth... Or you will have to have your lenses replaced after she crawls across the gritty tile floor with her cute little hand wrapped around them.... Especially if you don't have a back up pair or wear contacts...

It could've been a jungle out there...

I found out last Friday while visiting with my mom something I never knew before. We were discussing how happy we were that my son has flat feet so couldn't join the service or be drafted. It's true, I am a very selfish mother. Anyway we were saying that since he is such a by the rule don't be weird (I know, who knew I could produce something so normal!) guy he would never leave anyone behind and would be killed doing something brave but unnecessary. This led to us talking about how like my father he is and my mom said that is why she told my dad, when he was ready to start jungle training for Vietnam she told him it was Vietnam or her!!!!!! I never knew that he was going to go to Vietnam! During the war! So scary! I knew he had been in the Air Force stationed overseas but always assumed he did his time before the war and got out just in time. Turns out he wanted to stay in! And was ready for jungle training! I could have been a have not. And she said it was REAL jungle training. Eating bugs and monkeys and guys dying from poisons and losing limbs to gangrene, and all kinds of horrible stuff. Brave daddy.

iCook

Does Apple have this yet? A way to organize, rate, and share your recipes?! In any event, I made this for dinner last night, Beef and Sweet Potato Pan Roast. Except that as usual I overcooked my beef, cut my sweet potatoes into cubes, and sliced my tomatoes in half. Because I am weird like that. It was actually really good except for said overcooked beef. However I wasn't able to let Faith try the sweet potatoes as I didn't finish cooking it until after she was in bed and daughter A refused to try it based on the sweet potatoes alone. I cook for myself. I would have taken a picture but mine looked nothing like this pretty pic here so I decided no...
If you are interested, here is a link to the recipe

Coveting...

I am coveting this kitchen gadget. Even if I never use it for fancy presentations. I want it .....

Sweetness

Faith LOVES sweet potatoes. Now that she is eating (happy happy joy joy), these are her favorite. Knowing they are a "superfood" but not exactly why I decided to research and besides the multiple nutritional values I learned that:
"In South America
the juice of red sweet potatoes is combined with lime juice to make a dye for cloth. By varying the proportions of the juices, every shade from pink to purple to black can be obtained."
So cool! I want to learn how to do this and be one of those people who sell Green clothing!

Bugs slugs and tiny green thugs

Okay, I am not sure what episode of creature feature I am on but my house has become some sort of swamp/camp/woods creature refuge!! Two nights ago, Daughter A trapped a wasp under a cup. A wasp. At 8 PM at NIGHT!! Then about an hour later I went to pick up what I thought was a wayward leaf near the front hallway. But as I headed towards said "leaf" it was a baby frog!!! AAAHHH! While I am not frightened of frogs, especially babies, or perhaps it was a teen, it did startle me and I screeched a little which prompted Daughter A to come and investigate. I asked her to put it outside and after some hopping and screeching of her own she actually chased it out the front door. Those suckers can jump!! Okay, all good, I figured maybe she left the front door open too long earlier in the day or something. Then, last night, I was letting Mr. B out and he stopped to investigate something right next to the floorboard by the door and it was a SLUG!!!!!! EWWWWWW!! What is going on in my house!!!!!
